Join a collective of like-minded creatives as we convene for our June Coworking Day at the Watt Family Innovation Center.
A Coworking Day is a chance to get out of the office and do your work in a collaborative, conversational space. BYO laptop (and refillable coffee mug, if you like) and prepare to get your work done while fueled by equal parts caffeine and creative energy.
Discussion tables hosted hourly will touch on topics designed to spark right-brain sensibilities, while quieter (but communal) workspaces will afford ample room and resources so you can knock out your daily work duties. TableTalk hosts will lead a rotating menu of discussions and demonstrations about creative tools, technologies and topics that inspire innovation—on the job and in life.
By the time your close your computer at the end of a Coworking Day, you should have met someone new, learned something new, and uncovered a new thought that will make you a better and brighter member of the Clemson University community.
This month, CoCreate will host the following TableTalks.
10 a.m. - Filmwork for The Rest of Us. Camerawork doesn’t have to be complicated. Boost your basic knowledge, or ask specific, higher-level questions from bona fide video expert Eric Rodgers.
11 a.m. - Buckle Your Google Tool Belt. From conversations and calendars to aggregating and geotagging — Google may not be taking over the world, but as you’ll learn from graphic communications assistant professor Erica Walker, it’s taken over the interwebs. So get on the bandwagon before you get run over by it.
1 p.m. - Coping Mechanisms for Your Toxic Relationship with PowerPoint. Sometimes you can’t escape it, so art sensei Christine Prado helps us figure out ways to deal (and visually prevail) when facing a dreaded PowerPoint presentation.
2 p.m. - Be a Slacker. Working with web guru Matt Bundrick, you can learn about Slack — the app-based workflow tool and real-time communication platform and how it might reduce your reliance on *chorus of angels singing* email.
3 p.m. - “Picture it. Sicily, 1922 …” Not exactly Sophia Petrillo’s brand of advice, but we couldn’t resist a Golden Girls reference. The photography dream team of Craig Mahaffey and Ashley Jones will offer tips and insights on how you can turn your camera into an effective storytelling and marketing tool.
A movable feast. We will have signups for group lunch outings. You can go out to eat with someone new you meet!
Get your caffeine on. Did we mention there’s free coffee? There is. Free coffee. Free.
MOST IMPORTANT! No man (or woman) is an island. Spread the word. Share this with your people. The more people we have, the more connections that can be made.
