Seminar title: Pinniped Projects in the NE Pacific: Research on fur seals and sea lions in the California Current Ecosystem
Anthony (Tony) Orr, Ph.D. is currently a wildlife biologist with NOAA Fisheries at the Alaska Fisheries Science Center’s Marine Mammal Laboratory (MML) in Seattle, Washington. He joined the lab in 1998 after completing his Bachelor’s (The Ohio State University; Zoology) and Master’s (Moss Landing Marine Laboratories/California State University at Fresno; Marine Science) degrees. While at the lab, Orr received a Ph.D. at the University of Washington’s School for Aquatic and Fisheries Science in 2011.
Orr is a member of the California Current Ecosystems Program (CCEP) at the MML. He is the project lead for CCEP on research studies that involve the California Stock of northern fur seals. He is also involved in research projects involving California and Steller sea lions, Guadalupe fur seals, Pacific harbor seals, and gray and humpback whales within the California Current Ecosystem.
