The 4-H Physical Activity project is an independent program for 4-H members in which youth ages 10-17 will set goals and utilize the available online resources to exercise (I.e. at home with family or others) for 12 weeks beginning March 4, 2024. Participants will receive a water bottle, yoga mat and other materials for their program. The goal is to work up to exercising for 60 minutes a day. Participants will have the opportunity to set goals, make an exercise plan, track progress in their health journal, and view weekly video clips. Project members will also have the opportunity to participate in a virtual accountability group Zoom session twice a month with two 4H agents/volunteers and approximately 4 to 8 fellow program participants as a way to encourage continued participation and to take time to discuss the video clip topics.

A research component has been included to help the program leaders evaluate the program. Individual participants will be asked to complete pre and post-physical activity questionnaires and will have the opportunity (if randomly selected) to participate in one 50-minute focus group during the program. These items will provide an evaluation for the continued program improvement. A parent consent for the research portion of the project is attached here for parental review. The review with subsequent registration will constitute consent for your child to participate in the research.
