Clemson University

SC Hemlock Treatment Demonstration Day

Please join us, with owner’s Guerry & Sallie Burnett, for a picnic under the trees followed by a short educational hike along Weaver’s Creek. Weaver Creek Farm was acquired by the Burnetts in 1970.  It was certified as an American Tree Farm in 2003. Around 2013, a hemlock wooly adelgid infestation damaged and began to kill the hemlocks along the Creek. Quick response and guidance from Save Georgia’s Hemlocks educated them on how to properly treat and save the trees without contaminating the stream. We’d like to share their success story with you!

Demonstration educators on site will include: South Carolina Forestry Commission, Carolina Hemlocks (501c3) and Clemson Extension
