You do not need to be an environmentalist, fisherman, or scholar to become a water quality monitor! All are welcome to learn how to collect data that can help protect and restore freshwater streams through the SC Adopt-a-Stream program.

This training will provide classroom and hands-on instruction for volunteer monitors on how to: select a monitoring site, use chemical/bacteria equipment properly, collect samples, test water quality, enter data, determine stream conditions, and practice safety in the field. Individuals must pass an open book exam at the end of the workshop to become certified volunteers and be able to enter data into the www.scadoptastream.org database. Volunteers are encouraged to adopt a site to sample monthly to establish valuable data on baseline conditions of your waterway.

This is an in-person workshop. The workshop will last from 9:00-2:00. Please bring your own lunch, dress for the weather, and invite a friend!

Registration is required! Sign up now to reserve your spot.
