South Carolina Adopt-a-Stream (SC AAS) is a statewide volunteer water quality monitoring program. SC AAS volunteers can play an important role in monitoring tidal saltwater waterways while sharing information about local water resources with their communities.
Join Clemson Extension and Charleston Waterkeeper for a 2-Day Hybrid Tidal Saltwater Monitoring Workshop. This workshop will certify individuals to become SC AAS volunteers who choose to adopt a tidal saltwater site (waterway with a salinity of over 0.5 ppt). Attendees will learn how to collect water samples and test six basic core parameters: dissolved oxygen, air temperature., water temperature, pH, salinity, and transparency. Volunteers are encouraged to sample a tidal saltwater site monthly to establish valuable data on baseline conditions of your waterbody.
