SC Adopt-a-Stream seeks to educate SC residents about impacts to water quality and habitat, and collect baseline, non-regulatory data on the health of our waterways.

This workshop will certify individuals as SC Adopt-a-Stream volunteers to monitor tidal saltwater sites. Attendees will learn how to collect water samples and test basic core parameters, including dissolved oxygen, air/water temperature, pH, salinity, and transparency. Volunteers must pass an open-book exam to become certified and be able to enter data into the publicly accessible database. Monthly sampling is encouraged to establish valuable baseline data conditions of your waterbody.

This FREE in-person workshop will have an indoor classroom lesson and an outdoor field component. Please come prepared to get into a waterway for the field portion of the workshop, and bring a lunch and reusable water bottle.

Registration is limited and required to attend, so please sign up soon to reserve your spot!
