South Carolina Adopt-a-Stream (SC AAS) is a statewide volunteer water quality monitoring program. This training will provide classroom and hands-on instruction for volunteer monitors on how to: select a monitoring site, use equipment properly, collect samples, test water quality, enter data, determine water conditions, and practice safety in the field.
This workshop will train volunteers to adopt a tidal saltwater site (waterway with a salinity of over 0.5 ppt). Volunteers are encouraged to sample monthly, to establish valuable data on baseline conditions of your waterbody. Individuals must pass an open book exam to become certified volunteers and be able to enter data into the publicly accessible database.
Please bring wear closed-toe shoes that can get wet, a reusable water bottle, and a sack lunch. You will be emailed more information after you RSVP for the workshop.
