Covering the span from 1860 to the present, SANKOFA guides audiences through the historical landscapes of slavery, the King Cotton era, and the uplifting days of Emancipation. It weaves together narratives of notable figures such as Ida B. Wells, the Negro Baseball League, the Tuskegee Airmen, and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. A standout feature of SANKOFA is its distinctive showcase of inventions by African Americans. Rooted in the Ghanaian term SANKOFA, the production encourages us to draw wisdom from the past as we construct the future.
