CANCELED: Records Management 101: The Basics

THIS EVENT WILL BE RESCHEDULED

Have you ever wondered, “How long do I need to keep my office records? Can I throw them away when I no longer need them?”

This workshop will provide basic guidance and instruction to help you determine how long to keep your records and what to do when you no longer need to hold on to them. Whether you feel like you’re drowning in information or you’re concerned that you’re keeping records too long or not long enough, this is the workshop for you!

We will cover various topics associated with the management of information in offices and departments campus-wide; state and Federal legislation that governs records management at Clemson University; records schedules and how they apply to all records, both paper and electronic; email management; transferring records for storage and making files “findable” after they are transferred; storage costs; imaging records for database management; procedures to follow in the destruction of records. Participants will have the opportunity to address issues of concern.

This workshop is intended for individuals managing records in their offices and departments.
