Trypanosoma brucei is a protozoan parasite that causes African Sleeping Sickness in humans and nagana, a wasting disease in cattle. T. brucei is endemic in sub-Saharan Africa and completes its life cycle in two hosts, mammals and the tsetse fly insect vector.
