On November 17, Mable Clarke will receive the Order of the Palmetto award at a ceremony at Furman University. Established by Governor John C. West in 1971, the Order of the Palmetto is the State of South Carolina’s highest civilian honor presented in recognition of a lifetime of extraordinary achievement, service, and contributions on a national or statewide scale.

Two weeks later, she'll be speaking to the Clemson community as the final presentation celebrating the 20th Anniversary of Clemson OLLI. Mrs. Clarke embodies the power of the individual who - at any age - changes the course of history.

Mrs. Clarke will be presenting December 1 at 11:00 a.m. at Kresge Hall, at the University's Outdoor Lab. The program is open to all but registration is required. To register and learn more about Mable, the Liberia community, and Soapstone Baptist Church, click here.
