Professional Presentation by Dr. Carlos Valencia: “Health & Business Internships and International Studies in Seville, Spain”

Carlos Valencia, Director of Centro Internacional de Estudios Culturales (CINECU), is a native of Oviedo, Spain, but he has spent the last twenty years of his professional life in the United States. There, he received his doctorate in 19th-century Spanish literature from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill before teaching at Wake Forest University and the University of Richmond. Among Carlos’s professional interests are the application of new technology to Spanish language instruction and the incorporation of volunteer work into curriculums as a sociolinguistic and cultural learning tool.

International Spanish Program & Internships in Seville: Fall and spring semesters in Seville allow you to experience working in a number of different business and healthcare environments. Students will have opportunities to experience how different types of healthcare facilities and businesses operate. This includes both private and public hospitals, as well as private practices and local companies. Courses focus on improving Spanish linguistic competence and cultural familiarity through topics such as business, cinema, culture, grammar, health, and literature.  Most courses will also include site visits and guest speakers.
