The American Chestnut was once prolific from Canada through the Appalachians and into Mississippi, it is estimated that 25% of all trees in the Appalachian Mountains were chestnut. The Chestnut provided the logs for the Hunt and their fruit was an important source of nutrition for wildlife and settlers alike. In this fall open house learn more about this valuable tree, its demise and attempts to revive it. This is a drop in – come for a little while or stay as long as you want.
