2 sessions to choose from

Tuesday, May 21, 2024, Horry County Extension Office, 11:30 am - 3 pm OR 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Join Clemson Extension Food Systems and Safety agent Chase McIntosh Baillie at the Horry County Extension Office for an interactive Hands-On introduction to jams, jellies, and soft spreads.

All materials and equipment will be provided: produce, jars, spices, etc…

Canning is an important, safe method of food preservation if practiced properly. The canning process involves placing foods in jars and heating them to a temperature that destroys organisms that could be a health hazard or cause the food to spoil. Participants will be engaged in hands-on activities using current USDA-recommended techniques for preserving foods for home use. Persons with or without experience are encouraged to attend the workshop.

Participants will receive a packet of resources for further reference, the product made during class, and a fun experience.

Participants are asked to wear closed-toed shoes, tie back long hair, and wear a hat if possible. Also, bring a snack and a water bottle.

Should you require special accommodations due to a disability, please notify our office ten days prior to the event.

If there are additional questions, concerns, or barriers to entry, please contact Chase by email @ or by text at 864-650-8602
