Join us Thursday, October 7th from 9am to 8pm (EST) for our virtual research symposium Historic Cemeteries and the University: The Power of Place and Community. This event is free and open to the public, but registration is required. Our invited guests and members of the Research and Community Engagement Team for Clemson University’s Woodland Cemetery will host panels and conversations that cover topics including:  

  • Archeology Methods and Analysis for Historic Cemeteries 

  • Engagement with Multiple Stakeholders on Campus and in the Community 

  • Archival Research: Collaboration and Discovery 

  • Known and Unknown Burials: Storytelling and Memorialization for Historic Cemeteries 

  • Memorials, Monuments, and Markers in Historic Cemeteries 

  • Community Engagement, Collaboration, and Restorative Justice for Historic Cemeteries 

  • Archival Research Methods and Strategies for Documenting Historic Cemeteries 

  • Archeology Tools and Techniques for Examining Historic Cemeteries 

From 12pm to 1pm we will show a video introduction to Woodland Cemetery and the African American Burial Ground at Clemson University in Clemson, SC.
