Guest Talk by Zachary Rogers

Zachary will be speaking on his role as Director of Exhibitions at a contemporary arts center, The Bascom in Highlands in NC. He also will discuss how he balances being a working artist and an educator.


Zachary Rogers has worked at The Bascom: A Center for Visual Arts in Highlands, North Carolina, since 2018. First, as Exhibitions Manager and currently as Director of Exhibitions. He was born and raised in Laurinburg, NC, and earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Metal Design from East Carolina University in 2013. He received his Masters of Fine Arts in Sculpture from Western Carolina University in 2018. Zachary continues to teach at Western Carolina University. While in graduate school, he incorporated his interest in archaeology and museum studies in his sculptures and wrote his thesis on shifting museum dynamics and their relationship with the viewer. Zachary works on both sides of the gallery wall and fosters artistic community in all of his work.
