Dr. Marvin Whiteley

Seminar Title: "Bacterial physiology during human infection"

 

Dr. Whiteley received his B.S. degree in Zoology from UT-Austin and a Ph.D. in Microbiology from the University of Iowa in 2001. He is currently the Bennie H. & Nelson Abell Chair and Georgia Research Alliance Eminent Scholar in Molecular and Cellular Biology at Georgia Tech. He serves as Co-Director of the Emory-Children’s CF Center (CF@LANTA). He has received numerous awards including the Merck Irving Sigal Memorial Award for research excellence, the Burroughs Wellcome PATH award, recognition as a Kavli fellow of the National Academy of Sciences, the Dean’s teaching excellence award, and election to the American Academy of Microbiology.
