Clemson University

Emeritus College Online Seminar with Dr. Darren Linvill

December 8 (Tuesday) 10:00am – 11:30am, Online Seminar: Troll Spotting and the Watt Center Media Forensics Hub with Dr. Darren Linvill, Associate Professor of Communication: Dr. Linvill's research explores state sponsored social media disinformation and its influence on civil discourse.  Dr. Linvill and Dr. Patrick Warren (Department of Economics) have conducted extensive research on social media disinformation campaigns aimed at influencing the US political discourse and elections.  This year the two researchers introduced a Troll Spotting training program to help people spot a fake social media account.  In addition, a Media Forensics Hub has been developed in the Watt Center to work toward understanding the context, origins and impact of modern media and maintain Clemson’s leadership in this field of research.  Join us to learn more about Dr. Linvill’s research in 2020 and his future plans.
