May 28 (Thursday) 10:00am – 11:30am, Online Presentation: COVID-19 and the Climate Crisis: Similarities, Differences, and Lessons Learned from the Global Pandemic with Jessica Harris: Duckenfield Scholar and 2020 Clemson University Honors College Graduate, Jessica Harris presents her honor’s thesis discussing the role of air pollution as a driver of the climate crisis and of poor human health (in particular, how higher exposure might be linked to more severe cases of Covid-19). Why this demands an immediate need for a reduction of greenhouse gases, how this crisis can impact ethics and our moral duties to one another, and how we can learn from the mistakes in handling this crisis to better prepare and mitigate the next one.
