About this Event
Add to calendarJoin the Multicultural Greek Council, the National Panhellenic Council, and the Panhellenic Council on April 4th as we welcome Tina VanSteenbergen to campus. We will be offering two sessions focused on women’s empowerment.
Session One from 6-7 pm: Sisterhood Matters
Women need each other. Desperately. We need to empower the goodness and value in one another, and we need one another if for no other reason than we understand parts of womanhood that no one else can. Whether it be through a sorority or another women’s organization, coming together with other women to simply love one another has the potential to change our worlds—to make us better friends, better sisters, and ultimately, better women. But we have to choose. Choose to invest in and be bettered by each other.
Session Two from 7:30-9 pm: Understanding Feminism
This is often a dirty word in our culture. It’s been twisted to mean hating men, being angry, even hating other women. I couldn’t disagree more. Sororities were founded to be feminist organizations, granted not nearly as inclusive or intersectional as feminism is meant to be. As the most privileged, educated, affluent women in the world, we have a responsibility to engage in these conversations. It’s time for sorority women to stop tip-toeing around this “f word,” and to start dropping the F Bomb.
Both sessions will be catered by Cane's and all attendees will receive 1 free voucher for Handel's ice cream or Summer Moon coffee! Exclusive prizes such as Paw Power Gift Cards will be raffled off throughout the sessions!
