Black Musicians of Clemson

Vince Jackson and Dave Scherrep have been researching the music history of the Clemson area for some time now. Spanning over 100 years of entertainment the two musicians will present a program of famous African American musicians visiting Clemson in an exciting combination of live music and visual historical information.


On September 6th Vince and Dave, who perform locally at various retirement communities, farmer’s markets, and restaurants, will present FAMOUS BLACK MUSICIANS OF CLEMSON. The program will be both live at the Emeritus College and on ZOOM, but please try and attend in person for the full impact of the program. The presentation highlights visits to Clemson by Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Otis Redding, James Brown, The Supremes, Ike and Tina Turner and many others. Vince is the husband of Emeritus College Director Dr. Debbie Jackson and Dave, an Emeritus College member, is the former Assistant Director of Cooperative Education at Clemson University.
