Historic Congressional Cemetery

Join the Clemson Club on Friday, October 12 for a one-of-a-kind tour of Congressional Cemetery, a 35 acre historic yet active burial ground located on Capitol Hill. The evening will start with refreshments in the Public Vault where the bodies of Government officials and the public were once temporarily interred prior to burial (including three U.S. presidents, First Lady Dolley Madison, and sixteen congressmen who died while serving in office).
We will then begin our tour of the Cemetery, led by Clemson grad and Grounds Conservation Manager Kymberly Mattern ’17. The tour will last approximately 1.5 hours as Kymberly shares behind the scenes details from the prospective of her position and points out notable grave sites.
Guests should wear comfortable walking shoes, bring a flashlight and dress for the weather.
Registration for is just $9/member and $18/non-member. Each member may bring up to 3 guests at the member rate even if those guests are non-members.
