The 2022 SC 4-H Engineering Challenge will be hosted at the South Carolina State Fairgrounds on Friday, April 8th. We have several hands-on challenges available for youth (5*-18 years old).  All ages are calculated as of January 1, 2022. Youth that are registered as individuals or as part of a team will recieve a T-shirt. In addition to STEM-based challenges for youth competition, there will be an interactive STEAM Expo with multiple vendors and a Ferris wheel maker space (free to any participant or family member).

Team Challenges (2-4 youth per team) include: 

• Bridge Building
• Lego Robotics
• Mystery
• Rocketry

Individual Challenges (1 youth only) include:

• Coding (Do not have to be present to win - Can register/participate in other challenges in addition to this one)
• Visual Art (Do not have to be present to win - Can register/participate in other challenges in addition to this one)
• STEAM Fair Challenge (Youth can register/participate in Bridge Building, Mystery, Visual Art, or Coding in addition to this challenge).

Large groups may register by completing the group spreadsheet and emailing it to Ashley Burns (taberp@clemson.edu); an invoice will be sent and groups can pay online or with a check. 

Participants may bring their own lunch to the event or purchase a chicken sandwich ticket. 

Youth may participate in multiple challenges if the timelines do not overlap. 

*Most challenges are only available to youth 9-18 years of age. However, the Visual Art Challenge is open to youth 5-18 years of age.

For each child you register, we will ask the following information: 

• First and last name
• Age division (based on their age as of January 1, 2022)
• County (where they reside OR where they participate in 4-H, either is fine)
• Demographics (race, ethnicity, gender)
• T-shirt size
• Contact information (email or phone number)
