Contest is open for all SC 4-H'ers.  Poster, drawing, photography, painting, multi-media craft, poetry, and essay categories offered!

Objective:

• To enable 4-H members to improve their skills and express their passion for horses through visual and written art.
• To increase public awareness of the South Carolina 4-H Horse Project through illustrative displays.

General Rules:

1. All participants must be registered for the contest using https://23HorseCreativeContest.eventbrite.com and have paid the registration fee of $10 per category entry by the assigned deadline of June 7, 2023.

2. All participants must be current South Carolina 4-H members in good standing but do not have to be part of the 4-H horse project.

3. All entries must include the following information on the back of the art, as a title page (essay and poems) or enclosed in a #10 envelope and affixed to the project by tape, string, etc.:

a. Name

b. Age as of January 1, 2023 & Birth Date (Month/Date/Year)

c. County

d. Contest Category

4. Entries failing to conform to contest rules will be disqualified.

5. The top 3 places in the Junior and Senior Divisions for each contest category will receive awards. All entries will be awarded ribbons based on the Danish System. ALL CLOVERBUD participants will not be ranked or placed but will be evaluated and receive participation ribbons.

6. Entry must be work done by the exhibitor during the current project year (September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2023).

7. The contest, horse project, and South Carolina 4-H are not liable for any damage to the art or award during transportation or display. The contest will do its best to care for each piece of art, but accidents may happen.

8. All art must be easily related to a horse or the equine industry.

9. All entries should be delivered to the SC 4-H State Horse Show Office at T. Ed Garrison Arena in Pendleton, SC, by noon on June 16, 2023. If you cannot drop the art off, please contact your local 4-H agent for assistance or Heather Shultz at hkshultz@clemson.edu.

10. All art entries will be judged on the afternoon of June 16, and art must remain on display until 3pm June 17, 2023.

11. All art entries and awards must be picked up from T. Ed Garrison Arena by 4 pm on June 17, 2023. Any art and awards not picked up will be delivered to your local 4-H agent by the end of August. Still, any damages to the entry during transportation or storage are not the responsibility of the horse project, SC 4-H, or your local 4-H agent.
