The event will convene a group of education, government and nonprofit stakeholders to establish priorities and cutting-edge strategies related to youth success.
The summit will feature addresses by:
-- Daniel Cardinali, president of Communities in Schools, a nationwide dropout prevention organization
-- Hayward Jean, principal of Mellichamp Elementary School in Orangeburg, South Carolina, which progressed from an "F" to "A" academic rating in one year
-- College of Health, Education and Human Development Dean Lawrence R. Allen
Summit attendees will also organize into focus groups and emerge with an overall agenda for youth success that will be used as the major platform for building youth coalitions across the state.
