Addressing Conflict Without Escalating Emotions
Conflict is inherent in the world of work. Most people are conflict-avoiding creatures and would rather not deal directly with interpersonal tensions despite potential the consequences often being significant and/or unacceptable. This training will take a look at the nature of conflict in the workplace, go over some strategies and skills for recognizing and addressing conflict, and resources available to help in that process.
Tom Ward is the Ombudsman for Staff at Clemson University where he works to assist staff in addressing concerns and disputes that arise in the workplace. Mr. Ward earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Oregon in Human Performance and Development, and a Master of Public Administration from the University of South Carolina in 1987. Tom lives in Oconee County and enjoys fly fishing, music, canoeing and traveling.
