Mark Anthony Neal ~ "My Momma Gave Me This Big Ass Name: A Black Scholar in the Mix"

Mark Anthony Neal's presentation is a personal mixtape, a journey through his life as a scholar via the music and black cultural production of his time. In essence, it is a virtual soundtrack of the ways his academic life has been inspired by and reflects black music and culture from growing up in the South Bronx, through undergrad and graduate days, to his current work teaching with producer 9th Wonder and chairing the African and African American Studies at Duke.
