Speakers - Dr. Lorenzo Serrao & Giulio Ornella, Senior System Engineers, Dana Holding Corporation
The seminar will discuss hydraulic hybridization presenting the technology and the development process of
Dana Spicer PowerBoost hydraulic hybrid powertrain, designed for off-highway vehicles. The system, installed in a
prototype wheel loader, was developed to explore technical solutions and quantify the benefits of hybridization using real-world working cycles. The hybrid system design and its operation will be presented, with focus on vehicle-level energy analysis based on experimental cycles. The model-based approach to system development and the role of virtual engineering in the
process will also be discussed.
