Hunt Cabin Open House: “With rice in her hair”

Imagine warming your hands around a steaming bowl of gumbo and hunk of hoecake.  In this drop in explore the African influence on southern foods, and the ways in which enslaved African-Americans developed a rich culinary tradition. Discover the incredible journey made by rice and other crops into the Carolinas and taste some flavors of the past. Play African American games, hear some folktales, and learn about the African-American slaves who lived on the Hunt land.
