Hispanic Film Series Screening // Ixcanul

We welcome you to enjoy the first movie of this semester's Hispanic Films Series: Guatemala's recent award-winning film, Ixcanul.  Dr. Tiffany Miller, an expert on Maya culture and proficient in the Kaqchikel Mayan language, will be presenting this screening. She will give a brief overview of Kaqchikel culture and language before the film and lead a Q&A with students afterwards.

Join us in McKissick Theater to watch the story of María, a 17-year-old Maya girl who lives on the slopes of an active volcano in Guatemala. At odds with her family's native customs, she is faced with a difficult decision. If your professor allows extra credit, make sure you sign in and grab a response sheet.

We hope that you'll be able to come participate!
