An international contingent is expected to converge on Clemson for fall fiber symposium.
The Fiber Society will hold their Fall Symposium at the Madren Conference Center in Clemson, SC from October 23-25. The theme of this year’s fall conference is Fibers Interfacing the World. An international contingent of some 200 people are expected to attend.
Topics include fiber mechanics, physics, and chemistry, with a focus on interactions of fibrous materials with the broader environment. Four parallel sessions over the three-day conference will also showcase natural and synthetic organic fibers, biomimetics and bioinspired materials, inorganic fibers such as carbon and glass fibers, and surface-functionalized fiber-based materials.
The Fiber Society was founded in 1941 and seeks the advancement of scientific knowledge pertaining to fibers, fiber based products, and fibrous materials. The Society’s members include chemists, physicists, and engineers with interest in the field of fiber science engineering. Two meetings in the form of technical conferences or symposiums, held in both the United States and abroad, occur each year and are open to all participants.
As part of the conference, special events include:
Wednesday October 23 there will be a poster session along with a reception from 5:30pm-7:00pm.
Thursday October 24 there will be an evening banquet beginning at 6:00pm.
