Clemson University Leadership Conference
The Clemson University Leadership Conference provides an opportunity for the campus community to come together to learn and grow as leaders for our campus, community, and world. The 2018 CU Leadership Conference theme is "It's Our Time". The theme reflects our desire as campus community members to step up to our responsibility as leaders for our world. The theme expresses urgency for positive change and making a difference while implying that no one person can do it alone. The theme inspires a sense of community or group effort in tackling the challenges of leading our communities.
In addition to a variety of educational sessions on leadership, the conference will feature a keynote address and presentation by Celeste Headlee. Celeste Headlee is an award-winning journalist, public speaker and author of the book We Need To Talk - How To Have Conversations That Matter (Harper Wave). After four years as the Executive Producer of On Second Thought at Georgia Public Radio, Celeste is back as a guest host with National Public Radio in Washington DC. In her 19-year career with NPR, she has anchored shows including Tell Me More, Talk of the Nation, All Things Considered, and Weekend Edition. In a time when conversations are often minimized to a few words in a text message and lack of meaningful communication and conversation abounds, Celeste sheds a much-needed light on the lost and essential art of conversation. Celeste’s TEDx Talk sharing 10 ways to have a better conversation was listed as one of the most watched TED Talks in 2016 by CNBC and named the #1 must-watch TED Talk by Glassdoor with 12.5 million total views to date.
