Clemson Colloquium on Race and Ethnicity “RACE, MEMORY, & THE PRESENT”

“RACE, MEMORY, & THE PRESENT”
THURSDAY, APRIL 10, 5pm: PLENARY, Harden Hall
FRIDAY, APRIL 11, 9am-2pm: SYMPOSIUM & SEMINAR, Class of 1941 Studio, Daniel Hall

With the support of a CAAH Arts and Humanities Council grant, the Clemson Colloquium for Race and Ethnicity (CCRE) will host a First Annual Conference:Plenary, April 10, 5-7 pm, Harden Hall; Symposium, April 11, 9-12; Seminar, April 11, 12:30-2, Class of 1941 Studio, Daniel Hall

CCRE was established to address a newly apparent racism, a more subtle racism largely unspoken, often denied. While explicit racism is largely gone from our public spaces, at large and still very much present is a more surreptitious form of racism that results in continuing inequalities in wealth, health, and educational opportunity. CCRE is a forum for reshaping perspectives on race and ethnicity and for acknowledging and countering discrimination and intolerance.
