Beach Sweep/River Sweep

Do your part for rivers!  Join Keep the Midlands Beautiful for their annual River Sweep of the Lower Saluda.

Every third Saturday in September Keep the Midlands Beautiful, along with thousands of South Carolinians, volunteer to clear trash from our beaches, rivers, lakes, marshes, and swamps. This year we will again clean the banks of the Lower Saluda River.

Registration for this event is not required. Volunteers should meet at the far right (West) end of the Riverbanks Zoo parking lot by 8:45a.m. There will be a brief meeting before cleanup begins.

Keep the Midlands Beautiful will provide participants with trash bags, bug spray, water and gloves. Volunteers should wear sturdy, closed-toed shoes and dress for the weather. Volunteers should also bring work gloves if they have them.

Beach Sweep/River Sweep is a statewide event organized by Sea Grant and the SC Department of Natural Resources.
